ELK GROVE, Calif. — Police are investigating a shooting that injured a Taco Bell employee who was on a break in the restaurant’s parking lot Thursday night.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on January 15, 2026, at the Taco Bell located at 8750 Elk Grove Boulevard. According to the Elk Grove Police Department, the 19-year-old male victim was sitting in his parked car during a work break when another vehicle pulled up next to him.
After a brief conversation with the suspect, the employee was shot. He was then able to drive himself to a nearby fire station to seek help and was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.
Following the shooting, police cordoned off the restaurant and its parking lot for an extensive investigation. Officers remained on the scene to gather evidence and search for surveillance footage.
No arrests have been made, and the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
